Filling The Jar, Part Two

“No, I’m not going to make in bulks just for the sake of it. I want to make sure that every batch of cookies gets its fair amount of quality ingredients.”

I overheard mom’s conversation over the phone the other day. When I suggested the first time that mom should sell her cookies, she laughed out loud and said, “With the ingredients that I use? I’m going to make a huge loss!” Not only her, but everyone else who have tasted her cookies said the same thing. For a second or two, even I was convinced.

Who was I kidding? In one small cookie, barely taking the diameter of a 20 cents coin, packs a lip-smacking combination of coffee, cocoa, chocolate and white chocolate chips! Sometimes I follow mom to get her ingredients, and I kid you not, they’re not from the ordinary el-cheapo suppliers. It was through this that I learned the difference between SCS butter and other ordinary ones. Presenting.. her Mocha Cup Cookies.

I’m no baker, mom’s the genius. But my taste buds may be biased – so we bugged friends and neighbors, even gave them evaluation forms to fill! I’m not sure how many of them have expanded waistlines now, thanks to mom’s delicious goodies! Such as the not-so ordinary Cornflakes almond cookies.

“Is this femes amos? No wait, this tastes better!”

Or the Chocolate Chunks, yes, CHUNKS, not chips – Chunky Chocolate Cookies. I don’t take much chocolate but this is to-die for. That quote up there? Not from one person. From every single one who has tried it. How else would I boldly put that statement?

“Tell your mom that she can come up with all kinds of varieties, but keep her signature cookies baking all year round.”

Do I hear it? Do I hear it? The Bailey’s Cranberries Oats Cookies! Yes, you heard that right. BAILEYS. Baileys with cranberries and rolled oats. My personal favourite. The chewy texture from the rolled oats and cranberries is a perfect match as every single bit is evident in the mouth… (goes outside to grab some) …

Not a fan of sweet stuff? No problem! The Savoury Cheese Hearts packs just as much delicious goodness! I was taken aback by its taste at first, as I am not used to savoury cookies – so did my cousins who came by. They couldn’t stop snacking after that.

  4. Oh yummy! I can prolly get it from your bro in KL or pick it up in Penang when I go for a working trip during the first week of Feb. The Bailey’s look good. Gonna MSN you about this soon!

  5. I have been so privileged being Mrs Hor’s neighbour as I get first dibs! Yes, I have tried all these cookies and more (think Chicken Pie, think Glutinous Rice, think Jiu Hu Char and plenty more). I can personally vouch that the Bailey cookies are great with a cup of hot tea and makes such a great snack when hunger strikes. Her Mocha cookies are rich and sinful. But her Choc Chip Cookies are chewy and out of this world. ;-)
